I'm really attracted to the Toshiba Satellite A205-S4629 which Best Buy is selling for $1199 but I couldn't find any reviews for it.

    Here's the link http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8297103&type=product&productCategoryId=pcmcat103700050031&id=1172881524445

Does anyone have opinions for or against it?

I called 1-800-TOSHIBA to try to get more detailed spec for it, but the operator said I'd have to wait until Monday and unfortunately the sale price is only good until Saturday.

This is such a tempting offer, but I'd hate to buy it and then not be satisfied with it.

How is the battery life? I currently have an HP dv1175 but I want to buy a new laptop with Vista Ultimate, integrated web-cam, etc. I was leaning toward a custom built HP dv6000, but I saw this and wanted some input on it.

I'll mainly use it for web-surfing, listening to music, connecting to work network, watching movies, Word, Excel, etc.

    Thanks

I bought one a week ago,1st laptop,am recovering from an accident, and can't do stairs toget on my desk top...
I thought 2 hrs bringinging it down to 20% power was an indicator that I may have a lemon for a battery, but service says that's normal.
I read every thing I could find, and was wanting to believe that 4-5 hrs.
meant just that. What it means, is up to 4-5 hrs. depending on what
you're doing with it....Get a spare batt.. carry the cord..It's worth it.
Also comes w/ Vista Premium.......verry cool.

Toshiba does NOT provide detailed specs on the battery. I looked it up with my service provider login today and there are no specs on the battery other than that it is 4000mAh aka 4 amp hours.

Peter, 2hrs is about average. Getting 4-5hrs out of a a battery is a stretch. But to get the most out of your battery go into Toshiba Power Saver (its the icon on the taskbar that looks like a blue battery) and set the battery mode to long life and then make sure that the Processor speed is set to dynamic with a maximum of 1/2 speed and the lowest minimum. Secondly, adjust the LCD brightness so that it is at a minium. Lastly, set the CPU fan to battery instead of maximum performance.

If you adjust the power settings as I have said you should be able to increase your battery life by a noticeable amount.
