Anything new... with say a 260m?

I don't know what to do. I'm trying to wait till Calpella comes, but I think I'm going to have to give in sooner.

... or at least upgrade to a T8300 on my SLi1.

    *Should I?*

    Of course.

I was interested in anything Toshiba specific. These harmon/kardon speakers put everything else I've seen [edit: heard] to shame. If sager comes out with a SLI 260m [a pair of 280m wouldn't be worth the cost] I am all over that [probably]

I did buy a ASUS W90 from newegg, but cancelled cause everyone was having problems.

Should I upgrade the CPU to a T8300 2.4GHz on my present laptop? Fallout3's framerate stops when things explodes currently. I think that would put a new laptop on the back-burner if I had no insurmoutable performance issues [or hardware failures].

Go for Sager, not Toshiba. I have Toshiba, and YES I don't like it. No support no driver updates ect ect. I can't even sell it, people in my here is not intresseted in Toshiba any more. HP is same s^^^, I have also a HP laptop. Asus is the best, in service and quality! I have not yet tried Sager but very good feedback on it...

I upgraded my X205 last year, to a T9300, and I agree with you on the sound, best ever on a laptop. But with all the new tech today, I would buy a new laptop rather than upgrade.

Plus, changing the CPU in the X205 is no joke, you have to disassemble the entire laptop lol.

I have a shop that said they would install the new CPU for $85. Knowing the work involved it sounded like a good deal. I really want to wait for the nehalem based mobile for the HT, W7 and maybe DX11.

[It's like the planets aligning... almost]

    So I want that.

I need a little more power now. [I'm also an idiot cause I passed on the FX 9800m GTS 1GB version for $750 refurb. I now look on TigerDirect everyday hoping to see it again].

All I know is that the FPS stops on Fallout3 when things explode, so I need some CPU power.

Well Toshiba should be coming out with an update for the X305 "sometime soon". The 708 has been on sale now for over a month, and Toshiba retailers are eager to push inventory. That to me clearly indicates Toshiba has something new on the way.

I too would like to see some Clarksfield notebooks this year, but I sense manufacturers will try to clear their stock of Vista notebooks first and instead roll out the new platform with Windows 7.

I would probably hold out, not only to get the newer CPU and possibly 260M/280M, but pick up a machine with Win 7 loaded. The August-October window isn't that far away.
