Are we ever going to see a decent Ati graphic card on a Toshiba? Something like 9700 or x600.

Toshiba has started to slowly start using the ATI products in their newer units. The A6x & A7x series are now using the ATI Mobility IPG chipsets, and the P10-EE1 (Canadian Model) actually does use the ATI 9700 w/64MB. Their P20-QR& (Canadaian Model) uses the NVidia 5700 chips w/128MB. I don't know why, but most of the other Toshiba models available, I have seen either they have smaller brand video cards like S3 or have integrated video cards. There's only a few models that have a fairly decent video card with 64MB of dedicated video memory. I guess Toshiba probably thinks that only business people use their notebooks, so putting a lower-end video card would be just fine for their needs.

Also, I think the ATI X series video chips will not be in any new units until late this year to early next year.

Toshiba is nVidia's strongest partner in the mobile segment. Despite all the evidence that ATI's current series wipes nVidia's, Toshiba will remain loyal to nVidia and will refuse to put in ATI cards into their higher end models.

    512 MB RAM - 40 GB (5400 rpm)
ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 64 MB
Pretty good for 2002 isn't it?

I checked their current models that are available in Canada, and they seem to use Intel & S3 (intergrated video) a lot more in their Buisness line. Their new models are now using ATI chipsets (A60/5, A70/5). I guess they're starting to switch. They're probably more demand for the ATI chips now than for the NVidia.

Well it is now December 7, 2004 and ATI has appeared more and more in Toshiba products. The P20 has the option for Radeon 9700 128MB and 64MB. The M30X also has the option for Radeon 9700 64MB graphics
