Hey everyone. I used to own an S607, 17", P4-2.8Ghz, 512mb, 64mb video. I bought it in October '03. I'm sure some of you here own one also. About 1 year after I bought the computer the Wireless LAN quit working. The service center tried 3 times to get it working. They did mangage to get it working one time but it soon failed again. I guess nobody could figure this one out. Windows would detect the hardware but device manager stated the hardware "will not start" (code 10)....anyway, Best Buy granted me an exchange under the lemon policy, so I picked up the Sony AX570G.

So my question is if anyone has or had the same problem with the S607?

I highly doubt you'll have problems with your new notebook - newer Wi-Fi are much more reliable than they used to be. Which Satellite series are you speaking of? I've got the Satellite 5105-S607 from 2001, but it never came with a built in Wi-Fi card....

I had the P25 series. Had a metal with a white plasic border around the keys. The case and back of the screen were blue.

OK - Well, to answer your question, no, you won't have the same problems as you did with the P-series (The P-Series came from an era of laptops IMO, that were poorly built and shoddlily constructed. The P-series also suffered some heat issues due to their P4 CPU anyway). The new Sony you've got will be a much better laptop than the P-series was, rest assured.

I'm talking about BestBuy. I purchased a 3 year protection plan with my Toshiba. The lemon policy is described in detail under the plan. After 3 repairs have been performed and the unit should require a 4th repair then they will replace your unit with a new one.

Oh yea, FYI for all of those who've got BestBuy Warranties - you can get a free battery every year if you've got the 2 or 3-year policy! My dad already got one for his Qosmio.
