So the X305-Q701 became an Outlet item at Best Buy and dissappeared. Now Bestbuy releases the new X305-Q705.

    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9036483&type=product&id=1218011399812

I don't know what's really different between the Q701 and the Q705, looks like the only thing changed is the HDD is now 320GB.

But asking $1549 is pretty steep consider the Gateway P-7811FX has the better specs overall and goes for only $1449 but $1399 on Gateway.com

I'd much rather spend $1250 on the Asus G50vt-x1, also on BestBuy.

well the q705 is now the same as the one available in canada, they both have a 320GB HD.

also, that asus looks pretty sweet, but the screen size seems a little weird, but id have to see it first.

I picked one up yesterday for $1499 in Canada. Not sure if I am going to keep it, the FX or the ASUS g50Vt-X1 I have ordered.

The Canadian Bestbuy model has a 320GB 5400RPM hdd, not a 320GB 7200RPM hdd like the X305-705 US model. Otherwise tho I think they are identical.

Toshiba Canada also has an X300 similar to Bestbuy but with 1680x1050 resolution for $1999.

Lewdvig, if you could post some thoughts on the X300 vs the FX & G50vt when you get it, that would be cool, I am curious to see comparisions.

Oh, and where did you get the X300 for $1500? I only see it online for $1700(Bestbuy).

lol - it's actually $4,199. For that - i'd buy two crazy gaming desktops and one netbook. They must be coockoo.

No, there's also a model (X305-Q706) with dual 9800M GTS in SLI for $1999 same as the new $4199 model (X305-Q708) that was announced yesterday.

    Compare both models below.

    http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/compare.jsp?poids=424964,424965,

Only differences between the two are the Core 2 Extreme processor and 128gb SSD in the Q708 in addition to the 320gb HDD which both models have, no way worth the $2200 premium.

Perhaps in the US, not in Canada. There is no Q701 listed on the website.
