I will be receiving my new Qosmio (hopefully today).
One thing I've noticed on Toshiba's update / driver / download site is that there is a new BIOS version out.
Having downloaded it onto another computer to take a look at the new updates, I figured if my build doesn't have this new BIOS update, I will go ahead and update the BIOS first thing out of the box.
The question I have is there are several methods for installing the BIOS update, but the one that is "RECOMMENDED" is for a floppy (A: drive) installation, however the Qosmio (as most notebooks these days) don't have a floppy.
It mentions a USB install method, though I am unsure how to go about doing this, and was wondering if anyone has a good step-by-step instruction as to how to have the computer re-boot from my USB drive (and what I need in order to get this flash correctly).
I've read plenty of horror stories regarding BIOS updates, so that is why I am so wary.
Any thoughts, comments, suggestions would be extremely helpful.
Thanks

Suggestion: don't update bios unless you have a particular problem/need

I have updated my Toshiba's BIOS 3 times through XP; I.E. an .exe. Every time it finishes and it reboots, the first reboot always has a error of some kind(I forget), I always have to hold the power button to power it down and start it again, and then its fine after that. Other than that, no problems at all.

Recommendation #1
-Do not update BIOS unless the update will fix something for you or increase performance in some way.
Recommendation #2
-Update via bootable CD/auto BIOS fix and not through windows
Recommendation #3
-Make a bootable CD/auto BIOS fix for your current version of the BIOS BEFORE you run the new version.
(because if it borks your BIOS your only hope might be a pre-prepared bootable CD and pressing "C" to boot to CD while you boot up)
