I'm still deciding between a DV4000US, DV1000, DV1000t (waiting on the price), and the Toshiba M50.

I configured a Toshiba M50 on the website for under 1300 with what I wanted, and was just wondering what kind of battery life I'm looking at with the 6 cell?

You're probably looking around 2.5-3 hours depending upon what kind of tasks you're going to be doing.

So then the M50 has nearly identical battery life to the DV1000?

Very similar - the HP and the Toshiba basically have the same hardware as each other, so there really isn't too big of a difference in battery life. However, if you were to get the M50 with the dedicated X600SE GPU, you might see a slight drop in battery life.

Yeah the only draw to the Toshiba M50 is the X600SE. But I have a nice desktop for games. I don't think I've ever played a game on my notebook. The thing is, if I have the ability to, I may start? If I decide to get a laptop with a dedicated GPU, I'll get the M50. Otherwise I'll get the DV1000 (or the DV1000t depending on the price). Hmm...

Just waiting on the DV1000t now...

If you don't need the notebook now, don't get it. Wait for Yonah to become more commonplace and see what the market has to offer then.

HP has the dv1000t pricing up now. I believe it starts around $1350.

That's not too bad - after all it's a dual core notebook. You might be waiting a while for Toshiba's duos to come out - probably March or April at the latest. They've already announced some, but they have to mass produce them before officially putting them up for sale.

I heard that Tosh will be releasing the Duo's in first week of February (they might even start appearing on ToshibaDirect website very end of January). Makes sence since this is fast paced market and Toshiba's been in it long enugh to know better than to fall behind.

I read a reivew of two asus laptops that were equal in all parts but one was a PM and hte other a Duo. The duo had batter battery life in almost every test (I think in 1 test the two tied) and performance was better. So Duo's looking pretty nice!!

@OP: also look into the 12 cell batery offered by toshiba for the M50/55. That will get ~double the battery life of the standard batery, but it sticks out of the back like an inch and a half, iirc.

edit: I think that HP price is hella good since the Duo's are supposed to replace the top PM in Intel's current price chart. How many 2.26GHz PM's are out right now for $1350? not many.

Yes - Toshiba's low-end/mid-range notebooks will be coming out soon to get into the market, but I still believe they won't be comming out until late Feb. early March, especially new notebooks like the Qosmio. Duo's battery has been reported both better and worse than the P-M's was, so we'll have to wait and see what's the real story is. HP's price is great and all, but a 2.26GHz P-M will still perform better than 2.0GHz duo at single-threaded tasks, and will perform a heck of a lot better than the base 1.66GHz duo offered by HP's new notebook.
