    Hello,

I've got a TOSHIBA Satellite. I've installed Windows XP, not the one that comes with the laptop and now my battery only charges up to 37%.

When the battery reaches 37% just stops charging and the charging indicator turns off.

I've checked out with "Notebook Battery Info" as well and it gives the same outcome.

I can't really install the Windows version that comes with the laptop as is in other language.

    Any help is welcomed.

    cheers

How old is the computer? 2 years? Battery capacity reduces with time.

If it is down to 37% and less than one year old then you should be trying to get it replaced. However, first try a deep discharge or two. Set the critical battery action to "do nothing" and run down the battery until the computer goes off. Recharge and repeat. Sometimes the battery calibration is defective and the computer thinks the battery is almost empty when it is not.
