The Qosmio line has hands down the best screens out of any notebooks, IMO, in terms of quality, clarity, and screen brightness.

I think the best screens I've seen might be the ones on the premium SZ models from Sony (not the non-premium ones). Very crisp and clear.

I also really like the MacBook Pro matte screens for quality and clarity.

I agree. Too bad the rest of the Qosmio looks like it was designed back in the 70s. That sucker is HUGE!!!

How could someone vote for satellite, when the Qosmio is on the same list?

Anyway, from what i saw, the Qosmio's looked the best for multi-media. And the Thinkpad T series matte screen looked best for text.

If i was looking for the best value with screen quality in mind, i would prob. look at the SZ line from sony.(like others have said, qosmios are to big, and imo, to expensive for what you get)

Qosmio no questions. My Qosmio puts desktops screens to shame.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A70 (see sig) and it has the best LCD screen I have ever seen. Even my sister's new laptop, with it's dual-core CPU and lit-up buttons doesn't come close.

Qosmio lead the pack with its clear and natural coloured screen, it is easily the brightest of them all, even the new G30 is the brightest of all 1920x1200 i've seen. edit: i forgot to add that Qosmio's screen has one of those, glossy screen that doesn't reflect light as much.

the now discountinued sony A-series has an crystal clear screen, too bad its sucessor (the AR series) doesn't live up to the A-series reputation. edit: i know many people said VAIO screen is too glossy; but for some reason i did not find this is the case with any of the modern vaio i've seen. the VAIO tend to have a purple-ish tinge (sort of like the Anti-Reflective (AR) coating on glasses), which cut down glare.

I voted Qosmio, if only not to be a brand traitor! My Satellite Pro has a strangely bright screen but it's low res (my fault for not getting widescreen!).

I don't have much experience with the others except for a Sony Vaio which was good quality but too shiny.

I won't say Vaio is too shiny. U should probably look at some Acer models out there.. really too reflective for their own good :p

Do a poll like that at Toshiba's forum will difficult an impartial result. ;)
But, as a Satellite M115 owner, I can say that brightness isn’t the only thing to be considered. The screen of my M115 has a great brightness level, but the black level sucks. The image has a "wash" look. And is a little burled (I observed this details at another two M115, so, isn’t a defect but a characteristic). My old HP DV1000 has a lower brightness level, but the overall quality is *much* higher. I must agree with Zlic3r: satellite screens are good for budget users.

    Regards.

anyone here know if the Qosmio vertical viewing angle can be compared to a desktop? coz my macbook got horrible viewing angle (its fine for reading text but for image, there just too much washing out and inversing effect for viewing photo and video), and it is hard to check viewing angle in store (no proper image loaded) i was hoping to get some more opinion.

is it just the macbook or all laptop screen is worse compared to a desktop one in term of colour fastness.

    thanks

The MacBook viewing angle isn't that great compared to the MacBook Pro and other laptops, although that's only when looking at it from an angle. Under normal use looking at it straight on, you shouldn't be seeing washing out or inversing, etc. (when I had my regular MacBook, I didn't have any problems like that). I would see about getting Apple to replace yours.

I've seen many screens from different laptops. This is my opinion on the LCDs from best to worst:

#1 Fujitsu - Fujitsu is notorious for having the BEST SCREEN. Period. Nothing beats that.

    #2 Toshiba Trubrite LCDs

#3 HP's new Ultra BrightView (found on 17" models)
ASUS's A8Js screens. Those are around 220 nits.
(don't know which one is better)

    #4 Sony's xBrite Hi-Color, which are about 200nits.

#5 the others. Acer...Dell...etc. If you get a perfect LCD from DELL w/o any light leakages, shimmering, dead pixels, etc, then they're really great.

So really, all I have to say is that NOTHING beats Fujitsu's crystal screens. They're perfect. Toshiba Trubrite comes really close to that though.

my sister's notebook also has the same problem... it seems that the macbook just got poor vertical viewing angle :(.

btw, this might seems funny but i've sometimes got funny urge to bite the macbook, ipod and even the blue button and scrool wheel of the mac OS X, lol. not that i'm going to though... they are just soo glossy and soft just like candy. :p

    edit:

is fujitsu screen THAT amazing that it beats the Qosmio's screen which is the most colour accurate screen on a notebook that i've seen yet?

Yes, the fujitsu screen is pretty amazing if you ask me. I'm pretty sure fujitsus beat Qosmio screens, 'cause that's what Fujitsu is famous for. Anyways, they should be on the same level...differing very little. Both screens are in fact, very excellent.

Hi, I think you forgot to mention Asus Crystal Shine. It one of the best screens out of Fujitsu and Sony. I am not biased as I'm not Asus fan, but I'm envy with my friend's W3J and V6V screen
