[:0] Toshiba's website and promotional materials all state that with the standard warranty, Toshiba will supply shipping materials and pre-paid label for warranty depot repairs. I purchased the M35-S486 about six weeks ago. Speaker/Audio is defective. Rep tells me I can send it to the depot for repair, but I have to pay $15 to take it to the UPS store or they will send me the shipping box and label for $25 !! I challenged them and quote the text from the website and the promotional materials. They tell me that it is a new policy for the "new notebooks" and I have to pay. They tell me the website is wrong and so are the promotional materials. They refer me to the warranty booklet that came with the computer. Sure enough, it says I have to pay for any packing/shipping. I also received some promotional brochures, etc. in the box with the computer. Those materials state the same information as on the website and contradict the warranty brochure, but the warranty brochure is the one that counts according to the reps. Okay. I find it interesting that the consumer only sees the "old" shipping policy information on the website and in the promotional material while researching a purchase, then learns AFTER the purchase that the policy has changed. Pretty sleezy Toshiba. I would describe the shipping policy change as a "deceptive business practice" since Toshiba has had enough time to change the printed text in the warranty brochure, but for some reason has overlooked updating the information on the web and in the promtional materials ! This is my third Toshiba notebook in 10 years, but as a result of what I learned today, it will likely be my last (and no more Toshiba recommendations to my clients either). Geesh [}]

man, that's just rotten. First of all Toshiba shouldn't be making customers pay for shipment of a faulty notebook. Second of all they should update their site. Third of all, if you point out the fact the site states a specific thing and you were lead to believe that when buying a notebook then they should absolutely honor it, that's how you run a proper business.
Question, you shipped via UPS and they only cover insurance up to $100, so did you have to pay extra for insurance too? If it's a $2000 laptop you're shipping that'd be a ton of money. -
Toshiba website is so inaccurate that i think their marketing is selling different notebooks ..
I ordered a P30 advertised as TruBrite in the site at 5 places and also in PC Magazine AD , they shipped me one with what they call "Normal" screen , and didn't care less when I asked what happened to the TruBrite screen , The P30 miniature photo is of the P35 actually , apprently it looks so bad that don't show it .
The M30X series product guides showed the M30 notebook , missleading to think its the same notebook with better video while the M30X is a different laptop that look cheap with worst quality .
Infact their whole new satellite line looks crappy with what I'm willing to bet is a reach for maximum savings on our expense ( starting from lack of service covers , vents on the right , minimum lights and many more tweaks to save ) , they are just ruining their brand for a few bucks more .
I'm not trying to trash Toshiba as I have a 1410 ( great build quality ) and its really disappointing to see what have become of Toshiba , for each dollar "saved" now they will spend more then double in the future to repair the demage .
Beware Toshiba's "New" Depot Shipping Policy
