Ouch !! Just tried to upgrade my Satellite 1100's bios from version 1.20 to 1.60 and ZAM !!! Bye-bye laptop .... I followed all of the instructions to a "T" and it still botched up ! The sytem booted from the floppy, everything was going fine.... UNTIL ... the laptop shut off and it won't go back on. When I turn it on, the 'on' light goes on for about 4 seconds and shuts off. Not even a whir of a drive...dead silence. Does anyone know a way of correcting this problem ? Is there some kind of hard reset which will remedy the situation ??

    PLEASE HELP ME !!! [ :(]

Were you running the BIOS upgrade while running on battery power? If this is the case, that would be one thing that was not followed. BIOS upgrades MUST be run while connected to the AC otherwise a problem like this could occur. If you were on AC when the power went dead, then it could just mean the the unit is defective. From the looks of it, you're gonna need a new motherboard. There is no hard reset for a messedup BIOS wipe/write.
