    A Recovery Disk?
You can buy Recovery Disks from Toshiba, be warned they're not cheap ~ $30
Recovery Disks restore your system to the factory default settings [includes Windows and all drivers, etc...]

Vista, order the disks. W7? You also have the option to do a clean install, via USB using the MS USB tool. You will have to download a Digital River file and the USB tool from M$.

After OS install you down load needed drivers from Toshiba. It took me 2 hours but 0$ other than the cost of a 4G thumb drive. You have to call in the M$ numbers off the bottom of your laptop to activate.

You have to burn the Recovery Media. The Recovery Partition on your harddrive [if it's still there] is provided to allow the user to burn recovery media; imo it doesn't actually restore your harddrive directly.

I think you can just load the disk into your DVD drive, reboot and it should start automatically. If it doesn't, then you may have to go into your BIOS and set your Optical drive as priority in the boot order.

Attached is a picture of the Toshiba Recovery Media Creator. Before you start the process, make sure you have the "Verify" option checked [as I marked in red]. This will ensure your disks will infact work without problems.

    Good luck
