Suddenly all four of the USB ports on my Toshiba Satellite A105-S1014 have stopped working. When I plug an external mouse into them it sometimes works but the mouse is sluggish and lags. But most of the time it doesn't work at all. Other devices (PALM pilot, Canon Camera) aren't recognized at all by my PC.

I deleted the USB devices from my Device Manager and then recreated them. I don't know if that reinstalls the device drivers or not. (If it doesn't, does anyone know where I can obtain a copy of the device drivers to reinstall?)

I'm running Windows XP, Home Edition Version 2002, Service Pack 2

    Any suggestions are much appreciated

I found the problem! I figured I'd post it in case anyone else has a similar problem.

For whatever reason, power was no longer going to the USB ports (I changed a power strategy setting which may have caused this). An upgrade of the BIOS from 1.2 to 1.5 and a reboot repowered all four ports. The BIOS upgrade can be found at this web site.
