Today I'm getting the laptop mentioned on my sig. I read somewhere in NBR that Toshiba built quality is bad. Worse than Acer! I think there build quality is excellent, but now I'm having second thoughts from what I read. Should I cancel or go ahead with this buy? It's not cheap so please be precise and clear. I really have my heart set on this but if it's bad quality, I'll give it up in a heart beat. Toshiba support in Kuwait is great, actually much better than the showroom. But I want this to last at least 2-4 years. Help, please?

I've got an m105 that I've owned for some 3 weeks now. I take it with me sometimes when I travel, so it's had it's share of "handling." There is nothing negative to report, so far. Ask me again in 2 years, then I can tell you if these computers can last that long
I would take everything posted on the intarweb with a grain of salt. People with dilemmas and bad experiences will more likey post and share their discontent than someone who has no problems at all (I don't go around posting how normal my toilet works haha) on home improvement sites. Also, from my observation, a great deal of Toshiba owners are not as technologically inclined as those who own one of the other major brand computers, many of them are capable of diagnosing and solving problems without requiring help. This is not to say that the people with problems don't have legitimate claims. They have every right to voice their opinion. If I plunked down a good chunk of change on a computer and the manufacturer gives me the runaround on fixing a problem, you better believe I'd be telling others about it, too. -
I've had my P100 for about a month now and I can't be any happier. Build quality is top notch. The screen is brighter and crisper than any comparable Dell laptop. It's as light as my old 15.4" HP. It runs cool and quiet even during video encoding and heavy gaming (never seen it go over 64 degrees celcius). It hovers around 40-44 degrees celcius during internet surfing. It runs my games at full eye candy (Rome: Total War and it's 2 expansions).
There is absolutely no flexing in the optical drive tray when you're pressing down a CD or DVD. It certainly feels a lot more solid than my HP's tray though I've never really had any problems with the HP.
The only gripe I have and I'm surprised I've never seen it mentioned here is the function lights and labels on the front can be a bit clearer like they are on my HP. The labels on the front jacks are so dark and hard to see that I've had to use a flashlight even in a moderately lit room to see which jacks are which!
On the plus side I love how they included an old-fashioned rotary volume control (it's independent of WMP and system volume controls). I'm able to adjust volume accurately and instantaneously unlike the button volume controls on my HP. Makes it easy to turn down the volume when my porno videos get hot and heavy!!
Feel free to ask me specific questions about my P100. -
