I can buy a new Toshiba M45-S369 from Office Depot for about $1000. It's new but a floor sample. It "looks" fine. It's the last one they have. Think I should do it or pass on it? Any clues on how to check it out at the store? Thanks

How long has the notebook been out on display? I personally wouldn't buy it - you don't know what other people have done to it. In addition, problems with the keyboard/touchpad may begin to arise as the notebook ages.

Pass for me. I want a brandy new one.

pass for me also, its like buying a demo car...people will push the engine to see how well it performs. Well, doing that before the break in period wil cause problems later down the road. Same goes for that laptop.

I would pass on an open item. I know first hand what people do to display models. <<;

I would pass on it just because it is an M45. There have been numerous problems on here with the M40, (customizable version of the same thing) so my guess would be the M45 would have the same ghosting/display issues that have plagued the M40. My $.02

I've had an M40 for one year now, I bought it when it got out, and I've never had any ghosting problem, the screen is one of the best I've seen.
I still have two pending issues with it though, related to the graphic card.
And about the demo thing, I wouldn't buy a demo either, because when the salesperson is away, some people can "test" out some things, I guess, and it might have some premature wear. -
I'll pass it. I think it's quite easy ti fing out another store selling M40/M45. Or maybe you can CTO from Toshiba website.
Buy this Toshiba or pass on it
