Looking at the Toshiba Qosmio® X305 and I find it very good. Going to buy a laptop by the end of Summer, but most recent Toshiba (and some others) models are most of the time not available from any company here in Greece or if they are they are stupidly expensive. (Q33? @ 2800 euros etc)
Is there a place where I can buy one from a USA shop that sends to Greece?

Watch out for import taxes and sky-high shipping costs!
These can quickly reduce the advantage! Also, international warranties often include you having to pay shipping costs! -
Here is the official site for Toshiba in Greece. Look at the prices and models. Same models and prices available to all the major sites/shops in Greece that sell Toshiba laptops.

It's like the gather all the old models, put price of a year or more on them and sell them here as brand new top of the line...
Of course it's not as bad as Dell that they simply refuse to even talk to you if you are not a business partner and if you find any dell notebook from local retailers all or most come with the x3100 or similar "powerful" graphics solutions for prices higher than top of the line models available in the USA with 8800GTX SLI....FFS! -
might be cheaper to fly to pick one up then to get it shipped!

BlueMak,
just two marks.
I bought a toshiba in early 2000's with international warranty from US and ideal honored it when the hdd crashed.
Do not and i mean it, if you decide on a laptop from US, to use for the delivery anything else but usps (don't confuse it with ups). Last time i checked, the parcel comes to your local post office and you pay whatever tax there. Otherwise you'll pay much more, including some additional delivery and repositioning charges and as a bonus you might end up to the airport just to save some bucks (expect to lose the hole day).
My suggestion is if you are not in a hurry wait for European countries to receive it to compare prices (beware of keyboard differences. Minor in comparison with UK or major ones in comparison with Germany). -
Interesting. So if I use regular USPS I will have to pay the 19% VAT and that's it? -
ok, I have some news.
According to this http://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/dds/cgi-bin/tarduty?ProdLine=80&Type=0&Action=1&Lang=EN&SimDate=20080802&YesNo=1&Indent=-1&Flag=1&Test=tarduty&Periodic=0&Download=0&Taric=8471300000&Country=US%2F0400&Day=02&Month=08&Year=2008
And if that is indeed a notebook, and I believe it is, then
inside the EU, importing from the USA, you don't pay ANY customs or fees for importing it. BUT, you probably still have to pay the 19% VAT.
Interesting... -
