I have noticed since a new OS install of XP SP2 and a new BIOS (v5.9 for Toshiba A105) that fan will run at full speed when resuming from S3 and not come down untill I run CPU at full for a moment (usually for 34 seconds). Then it steps down to what feels & sounds like medium and then after CPU loading, it will return to low. It will now remain low untill a CPU temp calls for speed up but never more then medium, even in full load for 30+ minutes. T7200 on 945GM

The weird part is, it will now never run at full even during full CPU loading as in when renduring. Now it doesn't overheat, but it doesn't run as cool as it could if it was at full speed. I can guess the controller believes this is enough fan for the temp, never over 62 in full load with T7200.

What type of sensor or driver controls this FAN in the Toshiba notebooks?

It is fine when coming in and out of S4 mode or from cold boot. No app I have will detect the CPU FAN. Any ideas?

I beleive the it is reading the teps from a temperature diode that is in the cpu it self and that is what it uses to control the fan speed.
