Thank you for your help Sasuke256!

The suggested A8/A10 is the 4000 series, so would a 5000 series be too "modern" for it?

    Thank you!

try to see what cpus toshiba sold with the same series of laptop L775D - something..
pick the highest one and go for it..
Dont push it too much else the cooling wont be enough.. same for the PSU..

Thank you Sasuke256 for your suggestion. That was one of the options I thought, but I wanted to ask just in case.

    Thank you and God bless,

you can upgrade your laptop to a A8-3500m or A8-3520m, the a6 tdp is 35w and those a8 are 35w also, upgrade your bios to the latest version before upgrading the cpu. [IMG]

Thank you m1chb3ltr3! You are a scholar and a champion!

    As a follow-up would a similar 4600m work?

Thank you again to all of your for your help!

sadly it would not work the a10-4600m use a different socket, your laptop socket is FS1 ( the fastest apu for that socket is A8-3550MX but the tdp is 45w and i dont know if that would work ).

    Thank you Mich,
After looking at them side by side I think it will work. So, after researching this it looks like my motherboard is as you say the FS1 and most processor are the new FS1 revision.

May I ask where you found your information for future reference!

Thank you for your generous use of time!

various websites, you should save your money if you are thinking about upgrading your apu to the a8-3500m, getting a good a8-3550mx is hard to find most of them are cripple, i recommend you to undervolt your apu and overclock it find a balance between heat and performance :)

    Hey,

that's great counsel! Interesting, I had not thought about that balance between volts and clock. I just hope my bios will let me tweak the settings, from what I remember it does not. From my findings, also, it looks like the 3520m is almost as good as the 3550mx. What do you think?

    Thank you!

the 3550mx use 1600mhz soo the gpu is a little faster, you can overclock your apu with k10stat i recommend also getting : core temp and intel burning test, intel burning test make your cpu work at a 100% and with core temp you can monitor how hot the apu is, i dont think that the 3550mx is worth it, you are good with an a8-3500m or a-8-3520m

    Hello!

Wow! suggestion king! Thank you for those programs and course of action! That's what I will do.

I agree, the a-8-3520m is the way to go in this situation and I can get one for 30. It's a good price for added life and a little performance boost.

    Thank you my friend.

PS. By any chance do you have a forum or a website? PM me if you would if you do have.

    Hello @m1chb3ltr3

I see, well, I am sure you will be able to find someone to help you as much as you helped me! As @sasuke256 suggested feel free to make another topic of your own and I know someone will help you!

All I can say is that most OEM bios leave out those options on purpose and they can't be changed. If you find a way around it please let me know!
