    Hi all,

just wondering if it's possible to use DDR2-800,my A300 has a 2.5 Core 2 Duo and 2GB of DDR2-667,512 graphics memory...

...or should I just stick it out with DDR2-667?

would there be compatiblity problems with DDR2-800?

    any performance increase?
(assumming the laptop will recognize all the 4GB DDR2-800 at that speed[and not under clock it back to 667])

if it a'nt supported should I go for Cas latency 4? or Cas latency 5?

what would be a good brand?

...would it be a waste of time to even try?

    Thanks in advance....

    cgr :)

The 965 chipset in the laptop will only go up to 667 MHz on the RAM. I suppose 800 MHz would work but you wouldn't get any performance increase.

...I'd appreciate any reply on the matter

    Thanks trwrt, for the reply!

...so would that mean that it would under clock the DDR2-800 to a DDR2-667 spec?

    ...r u still there?

relax on the immediate response thing.

you are right about the memory. it will just run it at 667mhz. pointless to upgrade to faster ram.

    hi masterchef341!

thanks for the advice on the 'immediate response thing'...kinda new at this.

    anyway I guess the question/s, remainning is should I choose DDR2-667(PC-5300 or PC-5400)?Cas latency 4 or 5?

As far as I can tell 5300 and 5400 are just different names for the same thing, so either is fine. I don't know much about CAS but it looks like the stick I bought for my notebook with the same chipset as yours is CAS 5 and it works fine. I'm not sure if going to 4 would give any performance improvement or not. There are some tech documents on the 965 at Intel's website that might be useful to figure it out.

the edit button is next to the quote button which is nest to the multi quote button. :D Which are all located on the bottom right of your post. Click on it, and you can amend and/or add anything.

You dont have to ''end the thread''. I was just trying to say that, next time don't post multiple posts in a row. Instead, use the edit function to add what ever information you need. :)

    Hi all

...was just surfing, and googled sutff about PC5300,PC5400,PC6400(in relation to toshiba satellite A300/ST4004...

    1) http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=Satellite A300-ST4004

    2) http://www.crucial.com/store/mpartspecs.aspx?mtbpoid=F4ADF902A5CA7304

    3) http://www.crucial.com/kb/answer.aspx?qid=4251

    4) http://www.crucial.com/support/mem_type.aspx?type=package&value=choose

    5) http://www.crucial.com/kb/answer.aspx?qid=3743

...just addional info, according to the "live chat", if you use the 4GBkit the DDR2-800[PC6400] (assuming that ur using a 64bit Operating System) it will fully recognize the memory as DDR2-800 and not as DDR2-667...

    any feedback is welcome....

    ...thanks
