Hello all,
I have a Satellite l505D-s5983 with the m300 processor. I currently have 3gb of ram, but I'm downloading Adobe Photoshop and Dreamweaver CS4, so I'd like to upgrade to the full 8GB.
My question is, while running the 32-bit version of Windows 7, is it worth maxing out my computers ram?

Your machine really won't use much more than that 3GB RAM with 32-bit. However, if you can get ahold of a 64-bit Windows 7 DVD, you can use the same key as your 32-bit version of Windows and do a clean install. The key is good for either 32-bit or 64-bit.
Retail Win7 DVD's should just install the proper version based on your key so you shouldn't have to worry, just make sure it's a 64-bit DVD. But some OEM and MSDN subscriber discs have the DVD unique to the version of the OS. In this case, for example, if you have Home Premium 32-bit you have to get Home Premium in 64-bit, you can't use the 32-bit Home Premium key to install 64-bit of any other version (i.e. Professional, Ultimate). -

BTW.. if you do go to Windows 7 HP 64-bit, 8GB is a little bit on the high side, you won't need that much even with the entire Adobe Creative Suite. And seeing as how 8GB of RAM usually costs a buttload of cash, I'd go with 4-6. That should be plenty, plus it'll save you a lot of money.
Can/Should I add ram to my L505D?
