Hi, I have bought a new battery for my laptop Toshiba Satellite A100-044, but I noticed it causes me a black screen when I use it after approximately 5 minutes of my using to the laptop, I did unplug it and used the AC directly and it works very fine, the laptop doesn't show a black screen.
Is it possible that the battery is a bad quality and it is causing the dammed black screen? Please help.

Do you mean that if you run your computer with the battery in then it shuts down after about 5 minutes.?

Whatever it is, it should not happen. I suspect a charging problem. I would contact the supplier and arrange a replacement. Is this a genuine Toshiba battery or a compatible 3rd party battery?

No it doesn't shut down, the music continues to play while the monitor stucks on a black screen, it doesn't go unless I restart the laptop.
I am not sure if the battery I bought is 3rd party or a genuine one, how could I find out this ?

Software such as HWiNFO32 will give you more info about the battery properties and you can also take a look at the label. Does it have a Toshiba name and part number?

It is still unclear to me when your problem occurs. Are you running on the battery or running on the mains with the battery in the computer. HWiNFO32's sensor tab will show if the battery is charging or discharging.

If the problem is when you are running on the battery then the problem could be display-related power management. Are you using the most recent graphics driver?

    Thank you for your reply.
Yes, unfortunately it is a third party battery HWiNFO32 says Device Name: PA3400U-1BAS/BRS besides there is nothing mentioned about Toshiba on the labe, only chinese charecters.
Regarding my graphics driver Intel.com analyses it is current.
Concerning my problem I tried several times to use my laptop with the battery only windows start normal but after around 5 minutes the black screen occurs while in case in case I am putting music or movie, the later continues to play with sound but black screen (no video).
Is there a solution to my problem please.

While some third party batteries work fine, others may not have been properly tested for compatibility.

Do you still have your old battery? If so, try it and see if you get the same problem. If not, you have confirmed that the problem is definitely caused by the new battery although I can't understand what is happening.
