I have an r835 with i5 cpu and really love it but just got a good deal on an i3 r830. Reason for buying the r830 was that I really need the docking port as i plan to use it in my home office in the next month or so and would hate to disconnect and reconnect the monitor, keyboard, mouse and external hard drives every time.
Does any one know if the r830 / r835 cpu is swappable? If so i'll be be able to use the i5 in the r830.
Don't want to disassemble the entire thing just to find out if it's doable. I did a google search and found 1-2 places where it said that it's soldered but wanted to ask over here just to be sure
Thanks!

They both use standard 35 watt Sandy Bridge processors, so it should be a straight swap. But, you can't know for sure until you look at the socket itself.

That's what i thought as well. Unfortunately i'm still waiting on receiving the r830 so will have to wait a few more days but according to this link the cpu is soldered

Anybody else have any insights? -
pretty sure its soldered to the board am afraid fella
not sure if the docking port is part of the maindoard too? if its on a ribbon connection could always try swapping that and the bottom case onto the R835 -
Still waiting on the r830 shipment. Will report back once i receive it
Can r830 / r835 cpu be upgraded? Easy to swap or soldered?
