Despite following the seemingly simple instructions for my L505D-S5996 Satellite laptop, I still can't seem to get the battery to budge from the compartment. Any suggestions?

Yeah, try a crowbar and some high-yield explosives. That ought to do it. :p

Seriously, I don't know that model, but some laptops have a battery screw. Have you checked for one on yours? I know that is like "Duh!" advice, but I am not sure what else to tell you. I assume there is a button that unbolts the battery from your unit?

This is a link to a tour view of my model. I thought that as with most laptops, by sliding those switches on the bottom, the battery would pop out, but instead nothing happens. Very frustrated...

Is this a new laptop or the first time you have tried to remove the battery if it isn't new? Because this should not be a problem, and if you are following the directions verbatim, the battery should come right out. Might I suggest you call Toshiba tech support and ask them what the deal is? It is probably something simple you are missing that when you see it, you will slap your forehead like Homer Simpson and yell, "D'oh!!"

If your lappy is out of warranty, just walk into any PC repair store and ask them to help you remove your battery. They shouldn't charge you unless there really is something wrong, like somehow your battery is welded into the chassis.
