Looking for a portable laptop and stumbled upon this:

    http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10108194&catid=

I can't seem to find any information or reviews on this system on the internet, I believe it is a really new model. The specs seem like a great deal for the price, especially in a 14.1 inch machine. Could use some feedback, or links to any reviews. What do you guys think of this system?

BTW, i'm Canadian and so is Futureshop :)

Here are a couple reviews of the m300 but they're different models than the one you're looking at:

The price looks pretty good actually but I'm not sure about the build quality though. I've had a Toshiba satellite back in '05 and there was flex everywhere. Even keys started falling from the keyboard after about a year. It completely broke after 1.5 years. I'm not sure about today's toshiba's though.

Thanks, well I guess if I'm serious about buying this one I'll go in store and test out the build, see if it seems sturdy, but its good to know that the hardware seems like a bargain for the price. And the glossy exterior finish thing seems like a big turn off in the reviews, hopefully this new model won't have that.

I get the impression that Toshiba have tried to address the build quality issue. They lost a significant amount of market share as potential customers moved elsewhere. This review of the L300, for example, indicates a solid chassis.

For what it's worth, both of my Toshibas are holding up well out here in Iraq, and I confess that I'm not overly easy on them.

My X205 dropped off the table, about a 2.5 foot drop, (it was off thankfully) and landed on the front corner near where the Satellite logo is..........it cracked the plastic to the left of the logo, but the machine still runs great. My P-105 has had the screen and keyboard replaced, but that is only because it got sent flying from my lap during incoming and I was more concerned with making sure I didn't get broken that I was about it.
