I have a X505-Q894 with the backlit keyboard, the keys have become worn. I am thinking about replacing the keyboard with the newer X775 Keyboard Model # K000127050. I have some concerns
Would the backlit connector and keyboard ribbon be in the same or general location as the old one, and are they the same size. I found the x775 keyboard on ebay but I have not seen a picture of the connectors. I like the "chicklet" style keyboard. Has anyone tried to replace their keyboard with one of the x775 models, or has any one seen the connectors on these models and notice if they are similar.

Wait.... there's a backlight on the X505-Q894!? O_O
But that's the same board as mine! O_O
So I can potentially upgrade my keyboard to a backlit one!? O_O
... O_O
EDIT:
You can change the keyboard normally. o.o You can buy one off ebay for like $50, somewhat pricey, but not that big of a deal for a new keyboard. -
There's no backlight on the Q894? There's one on my Q893!
Yeah, it's nowhere near $50. Here's one for $35:

The way you can tell it's backlit is the orange connector, non-backlit keyboards don't have that. -
No sure what you guys are saying? My x505-Q894 has a backlit keyboard.
I am just trying to replace the current keyboard. My WASD letters are worn.
I just like the X775 version becasue it has space bewteen the keys "chicklet" style. I just don't know if the backlit connector on the x775 keyboard will fit on a X505 system. I have not a ssen a picture of the the back panel on a x775. i was just wondering if anyone has compaired the two version to see if the connector are the same?
Also toshiba website specs indicate backit keyboard on the x505-q894

I seriously doubt it will work, considering they are different keyboard styles; but your welcomed to try, we could be wrong.
Good luck -
When I dismantled my machine I saw another unused connection point and it matches the size needed for an LED connection.
Gonna give it a try when I finally get some cash. ^_^

Turns out the connectors are exactly the same and in the same location. However, the X775 keyboard has a straight flush bottom edge on the keyboard. But the X505 keyboard has a notch that goes down about 1/4 of an inch where the arrow keys are. A long 5" strip of plastic on the palmrest is preventing it from sliding right in, This is the portion where plastic contains the trackpad on/off switch. Too bad the x775 keyboard works and it looks good on this machine.

So are you saying it works in the X505? Did you mod it?
