Check cable connection no bootable device

Ok so i've got a toshiba satellite c650d and a few days ago i accidentally knocked where the hard drive is placed and then about an hour later i got a blue screen and then windows would not load at all. Anyways I tried doing a factory reset by pushing 0 as i turned the laptop on and at about 60% an error message popped up and restarted it and now i just keep getting the check cable connection error. Ive had a hell of a time trying.to find a boot disk and im wondering if it will even be worth it because in case the hard drive is fried i dont wanna waste the time redoing it all. Any ideas at all would be helpful.

 

Whenever I've seen the check cable connection error it means the computer is trying to do a PXE boot from your network -- the cable referred to in the message is the network cable. I assume you've checked that the hard drive is firmly connected and are still getting the error. Go into the BIOS and see if your hard drive is detected, if its not the drive is most likely dead.

 

Yeah the hard drive is detected in the bios and the error is pxe-rom then check cable connections. I read somewhere else that the laptop might be trying to boot from a lan connection and to change the boot order so lan is the last but that didnt work so idk now
