I’m planning on doing a clean install of my vista premium home on my x205-sli1, and I’m a little nervous, it seems a little daunting. So I just wanted to make sure I have the correct idea on what im doing per say.
    1. obviously back up all of my files
    2. then make a DVD of windows anytime disk
    3. Then I should download all of the software for my computer from the Toshiba website. This includes the software for the wireless card and video card. Do I also need the bios software, and software for the processor (I know it’s a stupid question)
    a. I guess I really want to know which drivers I should download to make this work.
I guess im really nervous that im going to be screwed if I make a mistake. I’ve read that the recovery disk for HP was corrupted, I was wondering if it was the same case w/ Toshibas. If it is the case I was wondering how to create a recovery disk. The whole situation seems quite daunting and I want to be able to increase my laptops performance. So any help/guidance you all can provide would be amazing. I sorry if these questions are hard to understand/stupid. Thank you soo much.

as long as you still have your original recovery disk that came with your computer you can always use that to go back to the factory image. I have actaully had to use my TOSHIBA recovery disk when i screwed up my XP install and it worked fine. Your bios is not changed with OS installs so you wont have to worry about that. and vista recognizes your SATA HDD so there shouldnt be any big concerns with drivers. with the vista anytime upgrade disk you should be able to make a pretty safe boot disk with V-lite, it just depends on how many drivers you want to slipstream to your new boot disk. There are lots of threads about this if you do a little searching and yes you can download drivers from TOSHIBA website, but you might not be able to access the internet unless you already have those drivers installed, so i would recomend saving all the drivers you will need onto a flash drive or cd or dvd BEFORE you do the install. Hope this helps... and good luck with your clean install.

ALL Drivers for Vista AND XP are available on the Toshiba europe site under support and downloads.
Select notebooks, satellite series, X series and then X200

You could also search for clean install here on NBR as there are a few guides on how to do it. Most guides work for more than just the manufacturer mention in the guide. They are quite handy, such as the activation tool thingy wer u just back it up and restore it....
