I got an A215 laptop for Christmas, and I was wondering if I could do a clean install on it? It hasn't came in the mail yet, but I would like to know and learn more about a clean install before it gets here so it can be the first thing I do. Could someone please explain to me how to do a clean install on this laptop? I've heard that Toshiba laptops come with a Anytime Upgrade Disc, is that true? Also, if I do a clean install, will I have to download any drivers? Thanks for all the help.

The A215 comes with a recovery disc that installs all components and drivers for the system. If you try to use an OEM version of windows XP or Vista: With windows XP you will find yourself in need of drivers for video sound etc, also if you system only comes with Vista Toshiba will have no drivers available for you. If you were to use Vista it might install a majority of the drivers or replace them with generic versions until the original verison is available.

The recover DVD is the best way to go because its has all you need to get the basics of the machine working. Not the recovery CD will erase all data and sometime partions.

Why do a clean install if you haven't even got the lappy yet unless you want to downgrade from vista to xp? Just remove all the bloatware first and yes all the drivers can be found you just have to search for them. I own a A215-S7462 and I downgraded to XP cause vista was just to slow for me even after upgrading my memory from 2 gig to 4 gig. It does come with a recovery disc so you can reload it to factory settings.
