    I have a Toshiba Satellite L305-S5918.

I need to clean out things that are stuck under some of the keys. Mostly crumbs that can interfere with the keys working.

Does anyone know if the key caps can be just popped off and then pressed back on? Is there any risk in doing that?

Alternately, is it possible to open the thing up and access the keyboard bed that way?

I see at the top of the Toshiba forum there is a link to disassembly guides, but there isn't one for this model that deals with the keyboard.

This Toshiba is getting kind of old, I really like it and it otherwise works perfectly and is able to do what I need it to so I'd hate to break it while trying to fix it.

Any help on this would be really appreciated.

    Thank you!

Popping off the keys is a bit risky if the under key plastic ladder supports breaks for any reason.

Do you have a hose VAC with brush? I use this to gently remove my black Lab hairs that get jammed under the keys and snarky cookie crumbs. Of course a VAC will pull those keys into the trash bag if you over do it. Canned air with a soft brush, but not to close with the air, can work wonders. Again keys can take flight if your not careful.

I would not pull the keyboard unless something sticky is spilled. Distilled water and alcohol have left me with a 50% success over cleaning 4 keyboards for coffee with sugar.

New keyboard here if disaster strikes...
