Hey, I have a Satellite M105-SP381 and have been using it for a couple of weeks. I can't seem to fully understand how to use the ConfigFree utility for connecting to wifi networks, it's always working at the same time as the Windows utility, and I always end up searching and connecting to networks with the Windows utility... Are they supposed to be running together? Isnt ConfigFree supposed to replace the Windows utility? Any advice on whats the best way to manage wifi profiles for connecing to different wifi networks? Thanks

I'd be curious to hear opinions on this too. I only looked at Config Free briefly, and I didn't really see the point of it, so I deleted it. Maybe I missed something. Anyway, I've been happy using the Intel software to manage my wireless connections (I have the Intel 3945 wireless card).

I actually do use it. Primarily for the profile switching between my office (Static IP), home, and hotels. It keeps my home and office settings clean.

Chumley, is the Intel utility you mention the PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection? Do you install only the utility or drivers as well? No conflicts with the supplied drivers? Any tips on how would I go about trying it?
    Thanks!

Yes, I think that's it. The driver supplied by Toshiba is the Intel driver, since Intel makes the wireless card, so there is no conflict. Both the driver and utility from Intel should already be on your computer. You have the choice of using either the Intel utility or the standard Windows utility to manage your wireless network connections. Which one you choose is a matter of preference. The selection is controlled by a checkbox in your network connections setup which says something like "Let Windows manage my wireless network connections". If that box is checked, then you configure your connections via the generic Windows configuration utility. If it is unchecked, then you can use the Intel utility instead.

I don't really understand how Config Free fits into the above. If I recall correctly, the factory configuration on my laptop had Config Free running concurrently with the Intel utility. I think Config Free just provides another layer to help you easily switch between different connections. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. What does Config Free really do?

I didn´t have the Intel PRO/wireless utility installed. Downloaded it, installed it along with the new updated Intel drivers and now I pick up every wireless network around!! It works like a charm... ConfigFree is gone :D
    Thanks
