Was wondering if anyone know about the Sli1 S/PDIF output. It is an optical output (supposedly digital), but on my receiver i am picking up a Dolby Pro Logic II signal and am unable to use the S/PDIF output setting with the Toshiba DVD player. Instead I have to switch it to the surround sound compatable or 5.1 settings which i believe is simulated and not the true digital signal. I am wondering if there is anyone who has a receiver with a Dolby Digital encoder that can confirm they are able to get the true Dolby Digital signal through an optical to mini connector from the Sli notebook.

I use CyberHome 5.1 headphones and I am not sure what they support, but they are compatible with PlayStation2 which uses Dolby Pro Logic II. The windows sound properties for the Realtek Digital Output allows you to check DTS, Dolby Digital and Microsoft WMA. It also allows you to turn Dolby Home Theater emulation on and off. I don't know about the HD-DVD software and what it does though. Hope this helps.

I had to go under my Sound Settings in the Control Panel and test each format before I could get any sound. Ill try to describe it from memory. There was a row that has Dolby Digital, DTS, and Windows something. Each one has a check box. Check that box and then tell it to Test the connection. After I did that for DD and DTS it worked. I also had to set Toshibias HD-DVD player to output via SPDIF. It was set to 5.1 but it had a weird hum. After I set it to SPDIF it worked fine. It dosent work as easily as it should but keep messing with it and you should get it to work. Also check under Realtek Audio under the Control Panel and make sure it is set to 5.1. Good luck and let me know if this works.
