I couldn't find a recent post covering the issue so I figured a new thread would be acceptable.

I am considering getting a new Toshiba. I have a three year old Satellite L305 that is still in decent condition but I think it's about time for an upgrade and the L305 doesn't give me much to work with. There are several different options and they all seem decent but Toshiba isn't exactly gonna share their weak points are they?

As far as processors go I think I would be safe in saying I want an i7. Good graphics are a must because I do a lot of gaming. I want good sound but I don't need anything too extreme. I want something with a wireless card that I can use to test my network. I tried this with my atheros 5007eg and I've found it a bit lacking. I am the type of person that gets into something and am obsessed for a while then all of a sudden I get bored and lose interest. Mainly I guess I want a laptop that can keep up.

Let me know what you have for a Toshiba and the pros and cons of your particular setup, whether there is room to customize, and what you think fits my needs.

Do you only want Toshiba? Here is a decent article to start looking:

I looked on toshiba's site but I do not see a lot of customizable laptops. If you want to run high end games at high frame rates at 1080 you may need to consider other brands.

I've been using Toshiba since 2005. Can't live without Harmon/Kardon...

Only gaming grade Toshiba is the x505 and x775 Qosmios.
If your worried about WIFI, could upgrade the wifi card to an Intel on your own ($20). WIFI card is very accessible; remove 1 screw, remove plate, replace card.

If you buy one, make sure to get the extended 2 yr on-site warranty for an extra $100. Makes any trouble-shooting and repairs much easier.

If you need true customization, try: ASUS, Alienware, SAGER.

    Good luck
