I have the A15-S157 but screen is cracked pretty bad. Any ideas on how to repair it? Or ideas on what to do with the notebook ?

Well, with a cracked LCD, it's not very likely Toshiba will fix it under warranty. So you generally have a few choices.

    1. Send in to Toshiba for non-warranty repair and pay for a new LCD swap (they take yours and you get a new one, cheaper than just buying an LCD outright)

    2. Goto eBay and see if you can find a Toshiba LCD for your model

    3. Use the notebook with an external monitor only

    4. Sell the unit and buy a new one.

You might be able to buy an Accidental Damage Protection plan from Toshiba and then send it in for repair under warranty. It's a bit sneaky, but saves you a bundle. LCD repairs (non-warranty) with labor charges could be $500 or more.

You are looking at around $600 for repair. Toshiba does not exchange lcd's when purchased outright. Only if it fails under warranty from defect. If you crack the screen and do not have a System Guard warranty you are out of luck. You can purchase the sysgd warr within the first 30 days of purchase. So if you crack it within that and keep your mouth shut till you buy it you can probably get it fixed that way. If the machine is still ok except for the break, it is probably worth fixing, since a new machine would cost quite a bit more.
