After returning my first Toshiba A135-S4677 to Circuit City last month because the back space key squealed like a piggy, I have noticed that the replacement, while having a much more solid keyboard, runs warmer and the fan runs quite a bit more.

Out of curiousity, I ran Sandra and found some disturbing things.

    1. Notice the FSB speeds on the motherboard and memory. At this point I was just checking things out.

    2. That's odd. Why do the actual speeds exceed the "maximum" speeds?

    3. Warning messages confirm the obvious. Sandra suggests reducing the clockrate.

    4. Temperature seems a bit high for a CPU under <20% stress. Not pictured: Another warning message from Sandra under this category warning about the FSB speed.

Is Sandra just wonky, or do I need to call up Toshiba and have them fix something?

Most of the noticeable heat that this lappy produces is coming from beneath the memory plate. The fan is pumping out pretty warm air every 30 seconds or so.

Here are my bios pages and available options, none of which seem like a way to down-clock it to stock speeds:

Try using a different program like CPU-Z or Everest and see what it tell you.
I'd be happy if my laptop was overclocked if it didn't run too hot.

its not too bad of a tempuature for a CPU, but yes-it would seem like they have overclocked it, but they also could have damaged something while opening the laptop, to make the CPU seem like its overclocked. Hope i could help!

I would run CPU-Z to see if it agrees with those readings... www.cpuid.com... It is possible that Sandra doesn't understand your chipset... As I highly doubt Toshiba is shipping OC'd laptops unless you have something on their enthusiast line.

Yep, looks like Sandra is wrong.
But still no reason for a hotter laptop eh?

One question: do you have the latest Sandra?

I'm sure it's the latest. Just downloaded it on this system this week.

Is that temp hot? Maybe I'm just being too demanding when a laptop fan should run this often.
