Hi, im looking for a notebook to buy in Asia at the moment and was researching the M30. Does anyone know what are the differences between the M30 Special Edition and the M30X?
From visuals, is see that the M30 SE still uses the old M30 design, with the speakers above the keyboard. Where the M30X uses the new shell with the speakers below the keyboard.
Apart from visuals are there any other differences? Or is the Special Edition aimed at the Asian market and the M30X for the American?
Thanks.

The m30x is a big drop in quality by toshiba compared to to the m30 which already indicated that toshiba quality is not what it used to be .
Many including myself expected the m30x to be the same case with a better GPU and BV screen but the m30x has a completly different design for the worse , its bulkier and looks cheap compared , the air vent is on the right (?) a sign of bad design , the underside lacks some access covers yet it has a vent ( bad idea for a LAPtop ) .

I believe the vent was added to the bottom to address heat issues. That might be an intake fan on the bottom. Having the vents on the side is not a huge problem, as the original Toshiba's used to have the vents on the side. This also allows for most of the ports, if not all, to be on the back of the unit where they should be.
The M30SE was released to be an enhanced version of the M30 before they released the M30X. The M30X also comes in a lower spec'd system vs the M30SE before customization. It has a 15" XGA & Intel Integrated Video card options as well. I don't believe the M30SE's are available any more on Toshiba's US site.

I see, that is very interesting. Here in Asia, we still have the M30 SE and the M30X (imported). Our M30 SE has the same specs as the M30X, expect as i said before with different cases.
So seeing that the old case seems better, it would be better off getting the M30 SE, right?
Also, is the M30 15.4 screen available in WSXGA at all? It doesnt seem like it cause i couldnt find any models with it. -
Update: The M30 SE is actually called the M30 now. THe M30 is now equipped with the CSV screen and all updateds sepcs with the exception of the Geforce video card. THe top model is M30-S760.
Should i favour this machine over the M30X as it is still in the old casing, but the M30X has the ATI video card?
