What are the differences between the Toshiba M640 and the M645? I've noticed that on Toshibadirect, the only available for customization is the M640. But I hear more about the M645 on other sites. Is there really any significant difference?

I don't think there is any technical difference. The M645 indicates a closed configuration sold at retail stores. The M640 indicates models that are configurable or at least sold directly from Toshiba Direct. That's all, I think. It's the same with the A665, which becomes A660 on Toshiba Direct. Or the P105 and P100 or the L645 and L640. It's just a naming convention, I think.

Hmm. I did a little research and I noticed that the M645 is available with GT 330 and the M640 (the customizable one) only goes to GT 310. I have no idea how significant that is, but it is a difference I noticed.

Also, I don't think the M640 has a slot load CD drive. :(

You are correct about the graphics card. Not all 645s have the slot load drive. I don't think any of the 645s have Blu-ray drives which you can add to the 640. Other than that it is pretty much a naming convention as mentioned above.
