Dimensions, so, I mean Height and Width

    Also, price aside
Original 12.1'' inch for Toshiba LTD121KA0F LTD121KA0S LTD121KA0Q laptop LCD screen display-in Other Electrical Equipment from Electrical Equipment & Supplies on Aliexpress.com

    It looks a bit wide.

I can't see the Display ratio for that one but this one

For toshiba LTD141EA9F lcd screen/laptop screen 1024*768&100% tested+free shipping-in Laptop LCD Screen from Computer & Networking on Aliexpress.com
1024x768 (sounds not too wide 'cos i've seen some square looking desktop monitors with that resolution)

but the pic looks quite side.

And it says 16:9 which sounds very wide.

    seems strange?

12.1 inch is the distance from the bottom left corner to the top right corner of the display. That screen will only fit in a system as small as a netbook. Very small.
16:9 has nothing to do with the physical size of the display, but rather how video is displayed on it. It is referred to as the "aspect ratio."

    i've verified that this screen is aspect ratio 4:3 not 16:9. It's XGA/ 1024x768

aspect ratio has a lot to do with size-height and width.. I don't know whether "aspect ratio" is of the resolution or of the physical screen. But it works for the resolution so if a screen supports 1024x768 then the aspect ratio of the screen is 1.333 4:3.

Any screen that does WXGA for example, which is a resolution with a 16:9 ratio. Is a lot physically wider , than a screen that is XGA so does a resolution with a 4:3 ratio.

    A 4:3 screen is a lot less rectangular than a 16:9 screen.

The picture used on that webpage , the first aliexpress link

is almost certainly widescreen, 16:9 not a pic of the actual screen. Just a stock pic they use for many screens they sell. It's the wrong pic for that screen. An XGA / 4:3 screen is nowhre near as rectangular as that
