I have an X-205 SLi1.
Using ventrillo my voice has always sounded distorted and echoey.. I thought it was a problem with my mic.. well today I just figured out this thing has an internal mic above the screen.. and it has been registering that instead of the mic on my headset this entire time.
Problem is I can't find any way to disable to internal mic so I can just use the one on my headset.
When I go to Control Panel > Sounds > Voice and under Voice Recording I only have one option in the dropdown menu - Realtek HD Audio Input.. if I try to adjust the volume then it stops it from registering on the internal mic but my headset mic still doesn't work.
I find this strange since it seems to be registering it when I plug the mic plug into the port.. I get that "pop" noise... but nowhere can I find any option to just disable the internal mic and have it run from the one I plug in. I thought it should do that by default but I guess.
Does anyone know a solution to this? I've checked just about everything I can think of but nothing seems to work. New drivers? Something? Help please

Goto the Speaker icon on the taskbar next to the clock. RIGHT CLICK
goto Recording Devices. RIGHT CLICK Microphone and click DISABLE
if you have an external Microphone attached, then 'FrontMic' will be clickable, set that to DEFAULTAttached Files:

Thanks.. but I forgot to mention I have Windows XP installed on it and not Vista. There are no options for Recording Devices but the default..

Ahhh wow.. can't believe I missed this. Found it in the Realtek Audio Manager under Mixer...guess I didn't notice that whole "Front Mic" "Microphone" thing before. Thanks for trying to help though, sorry for my unnecessary post.
