Hello, i have been having some SERIOUS problems with Toshiba.
I bought a computer from Toshiba back in march of last year, an A55-S1064 to be exact. I had no problems the first few months, but when summer came around my AC Adapter broke. I didn't know what to do, so me and my mother took it to this little place called the computer doctors (or something close to this). When we told them what had happened, they told us that the computer had been put on recall, almost the day after if not the same week i bought it, and i wasn't notified. They said at first that Toshiba could not do anything since they did not make the laptop anymore and probably had no adapters. I begged until one of the people who helped us finally called Toshiba. Toshiba told them that they were sorry about the problem and would replace the adapter, they had also told me at this time that i could use the computer until it was broken and they would replace it, as their apology for not being notified of the recall. Problem fixed or so i thought...

In September of last year, i started having more problems with my computer:

    1. The F key literally flew off at me during cleaning the keyboard.

    2. The screws or the things that keep the screen attached to the keyboard SNAPPED, and when they broke, they cut my hand in the process because my hand was caught inside of the part. Hurt very badly.

    and the worst...

    3. The computer finally just gave up on me in november and crashed, nothing i could do about it.

I called Toshiba, and when i talked to them i received the worst service possible, the person i talked to couldn't understand me, i couldn't understand him, partly because i was frustrated at this point and partly because his english wasn't that great. I asked about the warranty and also about being able to send the computer to them to be fixed, and i was told that my warranty was up and there was nothing i could do about it. They told me to try microsoft, why i do not know, and this led to a dead end also.

Today i talked with a friend about this and they gave me the idea to check my warranty myself. My warranty is NOT up, i still have a little over 3 months.

I'm wondering, should i call toshiba again and complain about all this, since they had told me not once, not twice, but three or four times that my warranty was up. I am unsatisfied with how things worked out and i just want to know what Toshiba plans to do, if they plan to do anything.

Ask for a supervisor...if not a manager :) How did you check your warranty? Just prove it to them that your laptop is still in warranty.

There was a warranty center on toshiba's website, and then it had a link for checking warranties. i put in my model number and some other stuff and it told me when i bought it when it was made and how many days i had left! pretty nice

Oh and the reason why it was put on recall?? They told me it was because the batteries exploded and had hurt some people o.o; i sure hope this wasnt the reason it was recalled and discontinued

Sony Li-ion batteries that were the subject of the massive battery recall a while back have exploded in other brands of laptops as well...not just Toshibas.

I'm assuming you have a broken hinge. I wouldnt be surprised if Toshiba would mark that as abuse/mistreatment that lead for that hinge to snap. You better cook up a good story before calling them and hope they can fix your problem.

And yes, Toshiba's support does suck and you have to speak to their manager/supervisor in order to get someone who properly understands and speaks english, then you can explain your problem.
