Stock, no. It only comes with a CD/DVD drive/writer. However, you can always install a Blu-ray player later on. ;)

Can I connect it to a Blu ray player via the HDMI port & watch the movies on its monitor? I read about HDMI in the manual, but I don't quite understand... I am not used to owning such a beast of a laptop! I have only ever had the everyday kind from Wal-Mart! Thank you for any help you can give! :)

They do sell external BD player, I believe and they should plug into the USB ports, right?

I was just wondering if this computers monitor can act like an HD TV if I hook up a blu ray player to the HDMI port on the side?

I am pretty sure that the output of the Qosmio is GPU and HDMI dependandand and can send full 1080p to an external monitor or TV, but I could be wrong.

Richard Dickerson is right, I don't want to output to a TV, I was hoping this computers monitor would be able to act as the HDTV, with a connected Blu ray player?

Well, yes you can use an external Blu-ray player. If you're asking if you'll get 1080p, then the answer's no. The screen resolutions fixed.

So I can connect a blu ray player to this laptop via the HDMI port & watch the movies in HD on the laptops monitor. You say not 1080p, so what is the highest it will go, 720p?

    Thanks :)

No, you could connect a 1080p monitor through the HDMI port. The BD player would be connected through your USB port.
