I'm thinking of buying a Toshiba Satellite A300D-013, but I have read somewhere that its GPU, a Mobility Radeon HD 3650 is underclocked from 600mhz to 300mhz, but I doubt it, because the HD 3650 is a 55nm chip, which runs cooler than other chips. Why on earth would Toshiba underclock a graphics card that is supposed to run cooler than normal? Can anyone confirm this, and if it's true, would the GPU still be enough to play 2006-2007 RTS and TBS games (not counting WiC), especially HoMM V: Tribes of the East?

no it doesnt have a under clok gpu, I bought the same laptop a couple days ago...in ati catalyst drivers says clock speed GPU:600mhz memory:500 (1ghz effective) runs oblivion really good I run it ultra high settings, with HDR and 1280x800 frames are 60-80 indoor 35-50 out door. You should really hop on that laptop cause it a really good deal and it wont last...its going up to 1k soon

I'm probably going to be getting this computer in the next couple days. But why do you say that its going to be going up to $1000??
I was playing with it today and futureshop and almost walked away with it.. ALMOST!! Either of you have any comments to make on it? -
the reason I say this is because its just a back to school sale, it going to be bumped up to 1k ...this laptop was bumped down form this price when it first arrived and it will be back up to price soon at the end of aug is my guest, my source is my friend who I gave commission to for the sale.
Does this notebook really have an underclocked GPU?
