    Don't work together?: Satellite L450-02T & Agere USB Soft Modem

    Hey,
    a friend of mine has a satellite L450-02T and an Agere Systems USB 2.0 Soft Modem, he wants to use it to use dial up internet.
    But it doesn't work, win7 gives various error messages, one is for example "no dial tone", even if there's zero problem with the phone line.

    apart from all the error messages when trying to dial up win7 seems to be perfectly happy with the modem, no problems whatsoever, driver installed just fine (version 2.28.93 (not sure right now where the dots go)). win7 always say: hardware is ready to use.

    but dialing up to get internet access always fails. it works just fine with the same modem on an old xp machine.

    does anyone have any idea what's the problem here?

    I guess all the frequent forum visitors / geeks who would be able to help are using high speed and are therefore not used to dial up problems... like me...

    but please people, any ideas? suggestions?
