Hello, long-time lurker first-time poster. I am considering buying a used Portege R100. I assumed that I could use any USB 2.0 CD-RW/DVD drive with the laptop in case I ever needed one (reload the OS, backups etc), but I've seen that there might be issues using drives other than the two that toshiba sold with the computer originally.
    Is this still true?
Has anyone on the forum had luck booting the computer with other brands?
The only "official" source of info from toshiba that I've been able to find was this: http://support.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB5100S70004R01.htm If I'm restricted to only two drive choices, does anyone know of a place to get one cheap?
