Ok, the wife finally gave me the go ahead to buy a new notebook. I've desided on the x205-s9349 form amazon for $1,500. Is there any reason not to buty this model? I'll be gaming and video editing... basically half work half play. My old laptop is a compaq 2525 with a 345 ati 64 mg card. I using this as a desktop replacement as well, so I don't need it to be extreamly portable.
Can some of you x205 owner give me a thumps up or down?

The processor is my only area of worry,t7100, but my dad is a plumber and has an excellent set of tools, I could chang it out latter. :D

I am very happy with my x205.

It's a very nice laptop with a ton of high points and very few lasting low points. It's only real lasting low point is its size and weight.

Don't worry about the processor... it does fine. An 8700GT with a T7100 is a great deal more powerful than a T7500 and a n 8600GT(DDR3) for games and does just fine in other apps as well.

If you do happen to find the processor lacking for something, you can upgrade the processor later.
(others on this board have upgraded to the 2.4GHz T7700)

I'd say at that price it is pretty much a no-brainer. The only place to check is if the clevo resellers (sager/etc) can put together a better deal.
(at that price I doubt it, but the comparison is worth the time)

It's a fairly good system overall. I have the slightly beefy brother to the 9349, the 9359, and I'm generally satisfied with it. It just needs a bit of tweaking from the start (remove bloatware, run the TuneXP application to speed boot performance) and it'll be smokin'.

Actually, surprisingly so! The HD-DVD optical drive on the X205 is one of the strongest and best quality I've seen on a laptop.
