I would like to know if it is possible to run dual external monitors using the Portege R835-P70 or R835-P56X. As far as I can tell both of these units have the same graphics hardware and both have one VGA and one HDMI port. I have two 22" monitors running at 1680x1050 resolution that can both accept a VGA or DVI cable. Assuming I buy the necessary adapter cables (for instance HDMI to DVI), is it possible to have two independent images on these two external monitors? I plan to close the laptop when using the two monitors so I do not need to use the built-in display at the same time.

I can't think of a good reason why it wouldn't work: The Intel graphics supports two monitors. However, one can't be 100% sure without trying.

Two external monitors work perfectly in extended desktop mode. This is how I use my R835-P70.

pocket_geek: Thanks for the confirmation. I bought the laptop and it's working great with two external monitors.
