How do you create a backup copy of a DVD/CD with this machine using the default software? I know it is easy with software like Nero, but there seems to be no "Disc Copy" function that I can find in the Toshiba software.

I have the x505-898, and I created my recovery disks by using the dash board. The dash board (on my lappy) is located when I double click the red push pin. One of the selections is create recovery disks. It requires 4 DVDs.

I actually figured it out using the function to make a backup copy in the disc copying menu, but ran into a problem. The laptop executed the first part no problem, but whenever I put a blank disc in, the computer keeps telling me that this is not a proper disc, which is odd, because I am able to write files to blank discs from my desktop or other HD files.

Maybe I should copy the contents of the DVD I want to back up to my HD and then burn them to the disc that way? The problem is I have no idea how to copy the two folders from the DVD file to the HD.

My suggestion about is to get a legal copy of Windows 7 or Vista (Whatever you use) and do a clean install. You can activate your windows by using your product key on the bottom of your laptop. Download the necessary drivers from Toshiba's site. This will save you a lot of bloatware and all that unecessary stuff Toshiba install on your laptop.
