Hi all,
I have a brand new Toshiba Satellite A135-S4427 right out of the box.
Intel Core Duo CPU T2250 @ 1.73GHz, with 1GB DDR2 RAM.
120GB HDD, running Windows Vista Premium Home Edition.
When I used MS Management Console to look at the Disk Drives, It shows a partition before drive "C" that has no drive letter but has a label of
"EISA Config" and it takes up 1.46GB of space.
I called the Toshiba support line - twice - which was the biggest waste of time there is!!
They told me that this partition is a "hidden" partition that is used to restore the pc to factory shipping configuration, but they could not tell me how to actually DO IT! Not that I would ever want to! The notebook also included 2 "restore" DVDs that I thought were for 'restoring' to shipping condition.
Since the size of drive "C" is over 10GB with all the garbage that is installed by Toshiba, I find it kind of hard to believe that they could shrink it down to 1.46GB! Any thoughts on this??
My questions, please:
1.) Has anyone else has come across this partition and knows for a certainty that it IS a (hidden) "Restore Partition"?
1a.) Is it possible to copy it to DVD and actually use it to restore the notebook and how to do it?
1b.) How do I delete this partition and release its space back to drive "C"?
1c.) Will this require a change to the 'boot.ini' file?
2.) Does anyone have any other telephone number or an email address to get in touch with Toshiba support?? (all my calls seem to go to the Phillipines using 1-800-457-7777), and they do not know much of anything, let alone the Vista OS which they admitted to me!
3.) How do I attach a jpg image to a posting here?
Thank you very much!!
Sincerely,
Cin
