We just switched from satellite to this AT&T uverse which required a new modem. I never had a ethernet connectivity problem. Ever since, I have been having this problem, but not with wireless. No lights come on. It actually worked a couple times, until i turned off the computer. Once when I was air cleaning the intake and exhaust ports, and then I think when i air cleaned the ethernet port, but nothing since. A different cable doesn't work, updated drivers, uninstalled both and restarted and reinstalled and it doesn't work, and the tech even gave me a new modem because of this b.s.

when I boot up from the power off (haven't tried restart yet actually), the ethernet lights go on, but right when the boot screen goes away, they go off!

toshiba diag? is that the diagnosis that you can click when it says it's not detected? if so, it just says the chord is unplugged and won't try to fix it.

Are any of the ethernet pins bent or shorted out?
