Hi. Ive got a Toshiba Satellite P305-S8825. I was wondering if I can give it a fsb1066 cpu and a GPU upgrade? I can see the graphics card module through the fan holes on the underside. I believe it is a PM965 chipset from the santa rosa refresh. Thanks in advance!

Download PCWizard from www.cpuid.com and tell me the socket type, cpu type, ram type.

Santa Rosa laptops do not support 1066FSB or the new socket used by Centrino 2 processors.

Untrue. the socket is unchanged. My laptop uses Socket P, and so do the new Centrino 2 processors. I heard somewhere i can use a p7350 because its not considered a centrino 2 cpu, even though it has fsb1066.

    Processor: Intel Core 2 T5550 Socket P
    RAM: 3gb DDR2 667
    Chipset: PM965

    It cannot be done. But
    • Your BIOS will not support it.
    • Even if it does, the CPU, i.e. say the P7350 will run at a reduced FSB of 200MHz.
The best CPU you can install is the T9500 (or the X9000 - not advisable).

(And the P7350 is a Centrino 2 CPU, but not available as Retail)
