    Is there a way to turn off the fan, or control when it goes on and off?

    i have the same problem........ The fan seems to turn on and off ramdomly.... ( When CPU usage is 0 it still run............?? )

    Using programs like CHC will allow the changing of the CPU speed, thus reducing heat and the spinning of the fan, but there's no real sofwtare out there to control the fan. It's all controlled by CPU temp ranges.

    The fan will run even when sitting idle (CPU usage will never be 0, you're always using something min is 2%) as power is still flowing through the chip. As long as there's power, there's heat.
